Rhea Kantor of Manorville passed away peacefully on January 26th surrounded by her two children. She was 87 years old.
Rhea had a passion for life and lived each day with a strength of spirit and a positive outlook. She loved art, decorating, cooking, and travel. Rhea always looked forward to her annual Arizona vacation at the Canyon Ranch Wellness Resort with her daughter Amy, where she made enduring and close friendships over a period of more than 35 years. She was also an avid collector of vintage glassware from the early 20th century, known as Carnival Glass. She enjoyed playing golf, and was very devoted to exercise and nutrition. Nothing gave Rhea more joy than spending time with her family and friends.
Rhea was predeceased by her husband, Harold Kantor and her parents Evelyn and William Schreck. She is survived by her children, Amy (Larry) Stein of Connecticut and Glenn (Nancy Vermont) Kantor of Westhampton, as well as her grandchildren, Alyssa Stein, Erica Stein, Lindsay Kantor, and Matthew Kantor. She is also survived by her sister, Karen Lambert of Great Neck, nephews Alan Lambert and Marc Lambert, as well as several close friends that she truly considered to be part of her family.
A private graveside memorial service was held on Wednesday February 9th at the Long Island National Cemetery in Farmingdale, where she was interred alongside her husband Harold, a veteran of the Second World War. A celebration of Rhea’s life will be held at a future time.
