Richard C. Byrne of Southampton died on June 7. He was 86.
Born in Brooklyn April 24, 1936, to Lillian and Ronald, he grew up in Great Neck with siblings Ronald and Denise.
An accomplished sportsman, he was awarded a football scholarship to Villanova, and followed to earn a law degree from St John’s Law School. While he was pursuing his education, he was a member in the U.S. Army Reserves.
His lifelong passion was restoring antique cars and he spent lots of time tinkering in his garages with many pet car projects over the years. He taught his daughters and grandkids his love of cars and the adventures of RV travel. Many holidays were spent traveling to different destinations within a RV.
He is survived by three daughters, Shaunagh of Southampton, Erin of Palm Harbor, and Maeghan of Southampton; and two amazing grandsons, Carlin and Keegan, both of Southampton.
After retiring from his Nassau law practice, he settled in Florida to peacefully enjoy his retirement and visits from his children and grandchildren.
. A memorial Mass will be held Saturday, September 24, at 11 a.m., at Our Lady of Poland Church Southampton. A reception will follow.
