Richard L. Nuñez Dies At 68

Richard L. Nuñez

Richard L. Nuñez of Hampton Bays died at Southampton Hospital on Sunday, March 27. He was 68.

A summer resident since childhood, Mr. Nuñez was raised in Forest Hills Gardens and attended Our Lady Queen of Martyrs School. He was the son of Appellate Court Judge Emilio Nuñez and attended the Rhodes Prepatory School in Manhattan as well as New York University for business.

A full-time resident for the last 15 years, he enjoyed being on the water fishing and making his own lures

Mr. Nuñez is survived by his wife Gertraud (Trudi); three children, Richard Taylor of Miami, John Nuñez of Hampton Bays and Karolina Nuñez of Manhattan; siblings, Carmina DeMurga of Manhattan and Robert Nuñez of City Island; and five grandchildren, Karli, Shannon, Fiona, Cole and Andrew Taylor.

A private cremation was under the direction of the R. J. O’Shea Funeral Home in Hampton Bays.

Southampton DWI Arrests for the Week of January 30

Lucia Macario-Morales, 38, of Westhampton was arrested by Southampton Town Police at about 11:15 p.m. on January 24 and charged with felony aggravated DWI after being pulled over on County Road 39 for, police said, driving erratically and failing to stop at a stop sign. A check of DMV records revealed that her driver’s license was suspended and that she was required to have an interlock device installed on her vehicle.
