Robert “Bob” Danziger of Hampton Bays died on April 5. He was age of 86.
Danziger was a distinguished professor of chemistry at Southampton College/Long Island University and was head of the college’s Fulbright Scholar program. He was widely respected for his passion for education, his dedication to his students, and his commitment to the advancement of science. Throughout his five decades of teaching, he inspired countless students with his enthusiasm for chemistry and his ability to explain even the most complex concepts.
He was not only an exceptional educator, but also a devoted mentor, always willing to offer guidance, encouragement, and a listening ear to those who sought his wisdom. His classroom was a place where curiosity was nurtured, and many of his students went on to successful careers, carrying with them the lessons he imparted.
His impact extended beyond his students. He was an inspiring colleague to other faculty, and a loyal and caring friend. His friendship meant the world to those who had the privilege of knowing him.
He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, intellectual curiosity, and sense of humor, which will be remembered by everyone whose lives he touched.
He is survived by his two sisters, Mara and Karen; his many former students; his adopted families; and a circle of friends.
A funeral service was held at Beth Moses Cemetery in West Babylon on April 9.
