The Sag Harbor Historical Museum was awarded a $10,000 grant to restore headstones in Sag Harbor’s Old Burying Ground on Union Street. The grant was from the Robert David Lion Gardiner Foundation, which supports projects that highlight New York history. The group of headstones to be repaired were severely damaged in the Hurricane of 1938 and have remained broken in multiple pieces and partially buried in the ground since that time. LTV Studios will host a Community Cookie Exchange on Saturday, December 21, from 2 to 4 p.m. Guests may enjoy cookies, music, crafts, and raffles. Proceeds will go toward paying for LTV’s new roof and to the South Fork Performing Arts Education Fund. Nonperishable food items will also be collected for LTV’s Little Free Food Pantry in exchange for cookies to take home for the holidays. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at ltveh.org.

Start the new year with a chance to do some good by braving the cold Atlantic for the 26th annual Wainscott Polar Bear Plunge, sponsored by the Seafood Shop’s Colin Mather, with all proceeds going to the Sag Harbor Community Food Pantry. This is the only fundraising event held each year for the Sag Harbor Food Pantry, which serves more than 100 families a week and over 500 family members, all of whom reside in Sag Harbor. Joy Jan Jones, a jazz singer who has performed at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and nightclubs and theaters throughout New York, will sing jazz songs from the Great American Song Book at the First Presbyterian Church of Southampton, 2 South Main Street in Southampton, on Saturday, December 14, from 5 to 7 p.m. The concert is a benefit performance for Maureen’s Haven Homeless Outreach. Jones will be accompanied by her band, The Fiancés. Tickets are $45 per person, which includes a reception with Jones and the musicians following the concert. The annual Polar Bear Plunge to benefit Heart of the Hamptons is set for Saturday, December 14, at 9:30 a.m. For this event, hundreds brave the winter cold to take a plunge in the Atlantic Ocean at Coopers Beach in Southampton.
