Thursday, December 19, marked another disgraceful chapter in the long history between the Southampton Town government and the Shinnecock Nation. A week before Christmas, the Southampton Town Board voted, 3-2, to engage in economic warfare by pursuing litigation against the Shinnecock Nation’s gas station plaza project. Crosswalks Needed

I was very happy to hear that Red Horse Market will be moving into the old Schmidt’s location [“Owners of Red Horse Market Buy Building That Was Former Home of Schmidt’s in Southampton,” 27east.com, November 22]. When they moved out, Schmidt’s left a big gap in Southampton Village. I would suggest that in order to show support, the village could put in a crosswalk between the post office and their location. I listened with interest and mounting concern to the recent “27Speaks” podcast [“Ethics Board Finds Violations,” December 19]. It was shocking to see Robin Brown’s image plastered on the front page for what seem to be minor accusations and unsupported findings.
