Utilizing outdoor spaces for learning is important for the Sag Harbor School District. Through outdoor recess and the occasional mask break, Sag Harbor Elementary Students have been strengthening their literacy skills, spending time with friends on the playground and working on their team building skills.
The Southampton High School girls varsity field hockey team recently raised $5,400 for the Coalition for Women’s Cancers at Southampton Hospital. The athletes raised the money by assisting with a car wash and lemonade stand sponsored by Southampton Elementary School’s Rotary Club. They also hosted a T-shirt fundraiser during Southampton High School’s homecoming games.
The halls and classrooms of Southampton Intermediate School were filled with the color orange as students and staff celebrated Unity Day on October. 20. The annual event was sponsored by the school’s guidance department. Wearing orange shirts and face masks, the students created a paper “unity quilt” with each quilt piece representing a student’s thoughts on acceptance, kindness and inclusion. All of the pieces will be “sewn” together and displayed in the school’s main hallway.
Westhampton Beach High School senior Joseph Litjens received a perfect score on his AP Research Exam.
As part of Fire Prevention Week, Westhampton Beach Elementary School students participated in fire safety assemblies with members of the Westhampton Beach Fire Department. They learned about the proper use of a fire extinguisher, smoke alarms and general fire safety.
