To help students obtain summer work experience, the Southampton School District hosted its third annual job fair at Southampton High School on April 2. Hampton Bays Elementary School fourth grade students were inspired to learn more about Braille after passing a second grade hallway display that featured the names of students in Braille. The second graders in Heather Ellis’ class created the display after learning about Hellen Keller. The fourth graders in Morgan Jones’ class then expanded their understanding of Braille by reading a book about Louis Braille and how the tactile writing system came to be. The students wrote, illustrated and edited their stories, as well as dabbled in graphic design and video production by turning their stories into movies.
