Hampton Bays Elementary School recently held its third annual science fair at STEAM Night. During the event, students showcased their science fair projects and explored activities related to STEAM. Activities such as the Code & Go Robot Mouse, tangrams, Crazy Circuits, wood burning and recycled planters gave students hands-on opportunities to engage with STEAM concepts in fun and interactive ways. For the past several weeks, Hampton Bays Elementary School third grade students in Nicole Neroulas's class have been observing Jackie and Shadow, an eagle pair from Big Bear Valley, California, through a live cam run by Friends of Big Bear Valley. From their observations and research, the students wrote and published opinion pieces on why Jackie and Shadow are great parents. They also sketched the eagles and their nest. Hampton Bays Middle School recently held its first Wellness Day, during which all students participated in a variety of activities that celebrated and supported their mental health and well-being. Facilitated by the school’s Wellness Committee, the day included stations related to mindfulness, meditation, yoga, nutrition and physical health awareness, team building, friendship and kindness. Adapted from the children's book written by Eric Carle, the characters came to life on stage. Directors Jenny Bracovic and Doreen Abbott led a cast of 12 amazing animals and a very busy spider.
