Members of Southampton High School’s Varsity Athletic Club recently raised $500 for the Special Olympics through a badminton tournament. Hampton Bays Elementary School students in Jennifer Warren’s third grade class have been engaging lessons about  social and emotional health. They recently discussed the six pillars of character, which are fairness, responsibility, trustworthiness, caring, respect and citizenship, and what it means to have good character. They also brainstormed examples of these traits in action and wrote about ways they can demonstrate them in their everyday

Students Invited To Enter Essay Contest

The Society of Professional Journalists is accepting entires for its 2025 high school essay contest. The topic for applicants is “What is the biggest challenge journalists face today, and how might they overcome it?” The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, February 19. The contest is part of the SPJ Foundation of the Society of Professional Journalists and the Journalism Education Association goal to increase high school students’ knowledge and understanding of the importance of independent media to our lives. Scholarships Available for Students Pursuing Health Care Education

The East Hampton Healthcare Foundation has expanded its student scholarship program and will now award two scholarships in 2025. The health care education scholarships will award $2,500 per year of study to two graduating high school seniors in the Town of East Hampton who will be pursuing a health care education at a two-year technical school or four-year college. Special consideration will be given to applicants in the BOCES nursing program who are intending to work in health care in East Hampton Town after graduation.
