Claire Urizzo’s third grade class at Hampton Bays Elementary School recently learned about the U.S. economy and the history of money. They culminated the lesson by designing their own money and writing about how it can be used. They imagined their own dog money, unicorn money and even chocolate money. Taylor Mathews, a Westhampton Beach High School senior from East Moriches, is the winner of the 2021 Arthur Ellis Hamm American Legion Post 834 scholarship. The honor roll student, who is on the high school cheerleading squad and enjoys fishing in her spare time, was presented the award by her grandfather, Michael Berdinka, Finance Officer of Post 834. In the fall, Taylor plans to attend Stony Brook University to study Marine Vertebrate Biology.
