Fifth grade students at Eastport Elementary School took an expedition to Aztec and Mayan civilizations during a virtual reality field trip with Eastern Suffolk BOCES educational technology coach Jenna Reda. Using the Google Expedition App and virtual reality headsets, the students were able to apply their knowledge of these civilizations by viewing scenes and descriptions of historical cities such as Tulum, Palenque, and Cichenitza. Virtual Enterprise Teams Collaborate
Members of the Westhampton Beach High School Virtual Enterprise team recently engaged with fellow VE teams from school districts across Long Island at the ninth annual networking event at Atlantis Sea Star Ballroom in Riverhead.
During the event, spearheaded by Westhampton Beach High School VE teacher Amy Demchak, students showcased their VE marketing materials and products and conducted simulated business transactions.
The Westhampton Beach team, Soteria, displayed their virtual cybersecurity training company. The team’s chief sales officer, Lewis Gibbons, delivered an elevator pitch for the firm at the event.
The Westhampton Beach High School Virtual Enterprise program requires students to create a business concept and formulate plans to market it. They compete and present their plans at several events throughout the year.
