Hampton Bays High School alumni visited the district high school and middle school on January 8 to discuss college life with students. As part of this annual alumni panel, the graduates spoke about the college application process, roommates, dorms, course selection and the transition from high school seniors to college freshmen. As part of the annual "Hampton Bays Reads Together" program, Hampton Bays Elementary School students are collectively reading “Zoey and Sassafras: Dragons and Marshmallow” by Asia Citro. As part of the program, founded by reading specialist Liliana Cacace, students in kindergarten through grade four all read from the same book every day, participate in discussions, and create music and art surrounding the selected book. Hampton Bays Middle School seventh and eighth grade students, including Louise Brumagim and Angela Lombardi recently explored the power of blackout poetry, a creative process where they “black out” words from a page of text to reveal their own poem.
