Eastport Elementary School organized a sock collection for the Warm Feet, Happy Hearts Drive. As part of the building-wide effort, sixth graders collected 85 pairs of socks, fifth graders collected 78 pairs, fourth graders collected 263 pairs and third graders collected 154 pairs, bringing the building total to 580 pairs of socks.
Last month, Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele Jr. met with students who were selected to participate in the Angelo Del Toro Puerto Rican/Hispanic Youth Leadership Institute. The Westhampton Beach High School National Honor Society recently held a successful holiday food drive in partnership with Long Island Cares. The students collected 789 food items that will be donated to local families in need.

To help bring holiday cheer to troops serving overseas, members of the Hampton Bays Middle School Tri-M Junior Music Honor Society recently created holiday cards. The students, under the direction of adviser Carolanne Mazur, wrote thoughtful notes and designed colorful card covers.
Hampton Bays Elementary School students in Krista Savino’s class honed their writing skills by sharing stories about their families and their favorite winter activities and then putting them to paper. They also drew pictures to accompany their writings.
