Members of the Southampton Elementary School Garden Club have been learning about growing herbs and several varieties of lettuce. The students kicked off the growing season by planting the seeds in their school’s indoor tower. Once the plants were large enough, they carefully transferred them into their school’s outdoor garden. Westhampton Beach Elementary School students recently participated in a meet and greet with their school’s new school resource officers, Mark Yakabowski of the Westhampton Beach Village Police and Tony Vecchio of the Southampton Police Department. During the event, the officers visited each classroom, introduced themselves, and answered myriad questions from students about their jobs, favorite foods, favorite colors and more.
