In recognition of National Diabetes Month, members of the Westhampton Beach Middle School Student Council donated $215 to the American Diabetes Association, which focuses on research, advocacy and educational programs. Southampton Intermediate School students recently marked Unity Day by wearing orange to school and taking part in activities created by the school’s counseling department that carried messages of antibullying, respecting others and kindness. The school’s resource officers spoke to each grade level about the importance of a drug-free life and the dangers of drugs, and representatives from The Retreat met with eighth graders to speak about the importance of healthy relationships. Three Bridgehampton School students represented the district’s music program at the Suffolk County Music Educators’ Day of Tuba and Euphonium, recently held at Central Islip High School. Students seventh-grader Yaredci Chavez, seventh-grader Kate Vinski, and eighth-grader Summer Lillie, accompanied by music teacher Dave Elliot, participated in rehearsals and clinics, culminating in a concert featuring guest artists the All-County Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble, the Faculty Ensemble, the Long Island Tuba Quartet and the Massed Tuba Ensemble.
