Hampton Bays Elementary School third graders in Jennifer Warren’s class recently hosted a successful fundraiser to help defray the cost of their upcoming trip to the Bronx Zoo. The students raised nearly $800 by selling Gratitude Grams, which contained a friendly message and a golden beaded necklace that they delivered to classrooms throughout their school. Sabrina Lattanzio, a second-grader in Erin McDermott’s class at Hampton Bays Elementary School is among the students who have been working on skills related to sequencing events and instructional writing pieces. As part of the unit of study, the students created their own turkey recipe and discussed the steps needed to create the perfect Thanksgiving bird. “Students really enjoyed creating their own silly yet delicious recipes,” said McDermott.
