Bridgehampton Elementary School students participated in an assembly featuring The Bug Chicks -- Kristie Reddick and Jessica Honaker -- in collaboration with Stony Brook University’s FoodLab. The award-winning entomologists and educators transformed fear into fascination through the world of arthropods. The Bug Chicks specialize in engaging students with hands-on learning experiences featuring spiders, insects and other exoskeletal creatures. The Hampton Bays School District partnered with Northwell Health to showcase careers in health care as part of a Northwell Health Career Day. Students explored disciplines such as nursing, emergency medical services, orthopedics, neurosurgery and health care marketing by speaking to professionals in the field. Marking National Fire Prevention Week, Southampton Elementary School students learned more about fire safety from the Southampton Fire Department. Students toured the department’s fire trucks and learned more about firefighting tools. They also learned important fire safety tips, participated in a smoke simulation and used a water hose.
