Sea Scouts Special Needs Sailors Could Be Adrift Without Mooring Permits

The concrete hulled, lead keeled, Duchess, a 30 foot Tahit ketch has been a platform for the Sea Scouts Ship 908 sailing program for more than a decade. But the difficulty of managing the vessel has left the Sea Scouts in hot water with the Southampton Town Trustees for leaving the boat and its moorings in the water over the winter and threatening the continuance of the group's mooring permit.
