Sgt. Thomas Dombrowski (ret.) of Southampton, a retired correction officer with the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office, died on July 22. He was 79.

He was born on July 19, 1943, and raised in Water Mill by his parents Benjamin and Sophie Dombrowski. He had 11 brothers and sisters.

After high school, Dombrowski joined the U.S. Army and was on the Army Track and Field team. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he met his wife Dorothy Ann Roy and joined the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office as a correction officer. He retired after 25 years of service.

Dombrowski loved to crab on Mecox Bay and clam on Shinnecock. Many knew him as “Tommy D.” He will be missed by family and friends on the East End, his family said. “May his smile continue to shine down on his family and friends,” they said. “They shall carry on.”

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; two children, Thea Fry and Tricia Fullam; two brothers, Edward Dombrowski and Eugene Dombrowski; three grandchildren, Shelby Fullam, Morgan Fullam, and James Robert Fry II; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial Service is planned for December 5, 2022, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Poland RC Church in Southampton.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Our Lady of Poland RC Church, 35 Maple Street, Southampton NY 11968, would be appreciated by the family.

The Mountain

Southampton Town officials, it must be said, are very much on point when it comes to affordable housing. It’s not just lip service: The town is doing its level best to begin to address the ongoing crisis that is making it harder for the town’s workforce to stay here, and more difficult for the town’s business community to fill positions. It became problematic a few years ago, but today it’s probably the biggest issue Town Hall faces. And it appears that all hands are on deck. The town’s voters also have done their part, approving a new Community Housing Fund ... by Editorial Board
