Kiwanis To Host Bingo Fundraiser

The Kiwanis Club of Southampton Town will host a St. Patrick’s Day bingo fundraiser on Friday, March 14, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Hampton Bays American Legion Hall, 55 Ponquogue Avenue. Proceeds from the event will help pay for ingredients used in the soups Kiwanis members make for the food pantry. Admission is $30 per person includes two boards and snacks with a cash bar. Grand Jury Indictment in Violent Robbery of Flanders Deli

The Suffolk County district attorney’s office this week announced that it has filed felony assault charges against the Farmingville man who police have said robbed a Flanders Road deli last September and “pistol whipped” a female clerk with the butt of a handgun multiple times. Jonathan Swezey Raynor of Remsenburg Dies February 6

Jonathan Swezey Raynor, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, teacher, and mentor, passed away on February 6, 2025, at the Kanas Center for Hospice Care in Quiogue. He was 74. Jonathan was born on March 30, 1950, the son of Robert Clinton Raynor and Dorothy Raynor (née Swezey). He was raised in Remsenburg and graduated from Westhampton Beach High School before attending SUNY Oswego, where he met the love of his life, Elizabeth “Betsy” Gaylord. The LTV studios technician and Westhampton Beach resident describes one winter when he literally threw colorful paints on cardboard, and he fell in love. Southampton Inn's Resort Hotel Plan Gets Green Light From Village Board; More Approvals Needed

The Southampton Inn owner’s plan for a resort hotel off Hill Street received a green light from the Southampton Village Board last week in a 4-1 vote. The board approved a special permit during its Thursday, February 13, meeting, although the resort hotel still needs approval from the village’s land-use boards before the plan can proceed. The proposal is for 40 resort hotel units, eight units of workforce housing and two additional units for hotel staff.
