The body of a Riverside man reported missing in November last year was found in a wooded area off Route 114 in East Hampton on Monday, January 6. According to Southampton Town Police, a hunter in the woods located the body, and East Hampton Town Police and detectives, as well as Suffolk County homicide detectives, responded. The Suffolk County medical examiner’s office was contacted and removed the body for further investigation. The deceased was identified as Luis Vargas-Arias, 56. SOUTHAMPTON VILLAGE — A Wooley Street homeowner called Village Police on December 17 to report a break-in at his unoccupied house that he had witnessed through his Ring camera. The man told police that camera footage showed two men go up to the front door of the house at about 8:30 a.m., then go around the house to the backyard and enter through an unlocked rear door, setting off a burglar alarm. The Suffolk County district attorney’s office announced last week that it had indicted a Southampton businessman on two felonies for allegedly intentionally misclassifying employees’ work categories so as to underpay employees more than $83,000 for a public contract job on Fire Island.
