Rudy Ordonez Ruano, 36, of Shirley was arrested by Westhampton Beach Police on Sunday at 8:48 p.m. at the intersection of Montauk Highway and Depot Road and charged with misdemeanor DWI. Police said an officer observed the defendant failing to maintain his lane and crossing over the shoulder line. Police Search for Couple Who Stole Merchandise From Macy's

Southampton Town Police and the Suffolk County Crime Stoppers are asking for the public’s help to identify two people who stole merchandise from the Macy’s department store in Hampton Bays last month. The pair, a man and a woman who were captured on the store’s security cameras, stole several items of clothing from the store shortly before 8 p.m. on October 19, authorities said. FOIL Lawsuit Against Southampton Village Resolved

A Legal Aid Society investigator’s lawsuit brought against Southampton Village to obtain police department rules and regulations has been resolved after the police department supplied the requested documents, with redactions. The investigator, Richard Burns, filed a Freedom of Information request in person at the Southampton Village Police Department in January and made the same request of several other East End police departments that month. Alan Vasquez, 18, of Hampton Bays was arrested by Quogue Village Police on November 4 and charged with misdemeanor DWI. Vasquez was observed speeding on Dune Road in Quogue at 10:49 p.m. on November 4 and was pulled over, police said, and an investigation revealed he was intoxicated. SOUTHAMPTON VILLAGE — A Cameron Street resident called Village Police on October 29 to report that he has seen several suspicious people trespassing on his property through the property’s remote camera system. Upon investigation by police, one of the people witnessed was determined to be a power line service employee and the others were police officers, who had come to the house after its alarm system went off by accident. Two Southampton Town Police Officers Are Suing, Claiming Discrimination

Two Southampton Town Police officers have filed separate lawsuits this fall alleging discrimination against them by department superiors over long periods of time. Both lawsuits claim that the officers, Nelson Gonzalez and John Giambone, have seen their career advancement constrained by discrimination against them by their superiors, been issued unwarranted internal punishments, been subject to verbal insults and, in the case of Giambone, a physical one.
