Stephen J. Broniecki of Southampton and Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, died on April 25, 2018, at Trustbridge Hospice of Palm Beach Gardens Care Center. He was 76.
Born in Pittsburgh, to Helen and Stephen Broniecki, he graduated from high school and was then stationed at the U.S. Air Force base in Westhampton Beach. On April 4, 1964, he married Donna Terry.
Mr. Broniecki was co-owner with Billy Owen of Owen and Broniecki Construction, before retiring in 2011. Survivors said, he was a kind and generous person often helping others. He volunteered for Huggy Bear tennis tournament, served on the cotillion board, and established fundraisers for both cystic fibrosis and the Dominican Sisters.
He loved the outdoors and spent many days camping, scalloping, scuba diving, fishing, and hunting. He enjoyed playing poker and was an avid golfer, traveling across the globe with friends, playing his favorite sport. He played the piano and accordion, adding “fun” to any event that he attended. He wrote songs for family members, including wife Donna and granddaughter Caitlin Marie. His top hit was a Christmas song titled Mistletoe, Holly, and Snow. Mr. Broniecki will be especially remembered for being a family man, survivors said, adding that the last words he spoke were to his family about how fortunate he felt to be part of such a loving family.
Mr. Broniecki is survived by his wife, Donna; daughter Stephanie and husband Mike Neill; granddaughters, Caitlin, Taylor, and Lauryn; a sister, Louise and husband David Murphy of South Carolina, and their two children, Christina and Stephen; a brother-in-law, Billy Owen; a nephew, Neal Owen and wife Alicia and their three children, Avery, William, and Emma. He was predeceased by a sister-in-law, Debra Owen; and a nephew, Kyle Owen.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Aycock Funeral Home in Jupiter, Florida, aycockfuneralhomejupiter.com. A memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of Poland Church in Southampton on June 9 at 11 a.m. Following the service, there will be a luncheon at Michael and Stephanie Neill’s home.
