The other day, we learned that Donald Trump had the Associated Press kicked out of a news conference and barred from future ones because it would not call the Gulf of Mexico the Gulf of America. This is outrageous.
But what’s more outrageous is that all the other reporters, from all the other major news outlets, did not walk out in support. This ridiculous trumped-up reason for barring the AP is clearly the first salvo in their effort to marginalize and destroy the press.
We urgently ask that The Express News Group stand with the AP. Unfortunately, your organization could be next, unless the press stands together and protects its role in our democracy.
