Donald Trump has been given an extraordinary mandate by the American people. They wanted change, and he promised it. The question I have is: What price are Americans willing to pay to get those changes accomplished Trump style?
Trump will close the border and deport illegal immigrants. But he will do it in the Trump way, which will be extreme and brutal. Are Americans going to be OK with that?
He will end the war in Ukraine, in the Trump way. He will likely make a deal with Vladimir Putin to give away a portion of Ukraine, and to restrict Ukraine from ever being part of NATO. Will Americans be OK with that?
He will gather around him another cast of characters to do his bidding. They will not have proper security clearances, nor credentials for their jobs, and will be full of conflicts of interest. We have seen it all before — the Trump way of being the autocratic CEO. Will the people be OK with that in order to “get the job done”?
We won’t know until he actually takes office what he will do, but we’ve seen his playbook before, and it seems pretty predictable. And if the people are not OK with his choices, they will vote accordingly in the midterms.
Because that is the voice we always have, to vote for what we want, and don’t want. That is the American way.
