I’m wondering how many other readers have had the experience with local drug chains whereby unrequested prescriptions are filled as much as two weeks earlier than they are due. It doesn’t matter if the doctor has said take “only as necessary,” or that the doctor has reduced the dosage because intermediate goals have been achieved. If CVS and Walgreens think it’s time for you to get re-upped, they fill and they phone.
Repeated calls asking customers to retrieve (unordered) drugs comes with scary messages that threaten that unretrieved drugs may not be able to be obtained if timelines are missed.
When did it get this way? Why did we lose control?

I’m not typically keen on dueling Letters to the Editor, but in my best Inigo Montoya voice, my response to Highway Superintendent Charles McArdle is: “I did not say what you think I said” [“Oversight Failure,” Letters, November 13]. Let...
At the end of the Southampton Village Board’s November 13 meeting, Mayor Bill Manger announced that he wants to use taxpayer money to build a village “app” listing local sites, such as the World War I monument and the First...
Scourge: a person or thing that causes great suffering, affliction or misery. The latest from our local government is that they’re not going to ban gas-powered leaf blowers, because they can’t enforce the law. This is backward thinking. First comes...

Under the proposed code, every permit application will be required to include a detailed transportation plan, including the number of...
