Virginia “Ginny” Williams of Ft. Pierce, Florida, and formerly of Westhampton Beach, died on January 30 in Ft. Pierce. She was 84.
Ms. Williams and her husband Don spent over 30 years in retirement living in Florida, the last 20 among close friends in Ft. Pierce.
Ms. Williams is remembered by family and friends for her kind, thoughtful and generous spirit always putting the concerns of family and friends ahead of her own. To her former students, she’s remembered fondly as a patient and caring elementary teacher with strict rules yet a reassuring touch.
Ms. Williams was born in Glen Cove, to Stephen and Adeline Trautschold on November 30, 1936. Her family moved to Orangeville, Pennsylvania in her early years. It was there, in the rural Orangeville, where Ms. Williams’s lifelong love for horses began with many years spent riding her horse Thunder. After graduation from Bloomsburg High School, Ms. Williams entered Mansfield State College, where she met her husband of 63 years, Don Williams.
They settled in Westhampton Beach, where Ms. Williams enjoyed more than 20 years teaching at the Westhampton Beach Elementary School. She had a wide array of pastimes from her card games among her local bridge clubs to Mah Jong, tennis and eventually golf, which she enjoyed throughout her retirement. She enjoyed traveling and cruises with her husband and close friends. Most of all, she cherished time spent with her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter Debbie LeMoine and husband Pat of Houston, Texas; son Bill and wife Shelly of Roswell, Georgia; four grandchildren, Rachel, Ryan, Finnley and Wesley; and her great-grandson Hagan.
A memorial service in Ft. Pierce is planned in the near future.
