Former Republican Town Councilman Rick Martel, the owner of Skidmore’s Sports and Styles in Hampton Bays and a longtime community volunteer, who lost in a close reelection bid in 2023, hopes to reclaim his seat in the March 18 special election. John Leonard, a member of the Town Zoning Board of Appeals and an attorney, who cited a long list of civic activities, is the Democratic candidate.
