The East Hampton boys and girls cross country teams defeated Islip last week, both improving to 2-0 on the season. The boys won their meet, 24-36, while the girls won, 16-41.
The Bonac boys won despite Islip taking the first and third placements of the race. They were able to do so by having six of their runners in the top eight. Evan Masi, coming off a broken ankle last November, placed second in 14:03 then Amari Gordon, Brayan Rivera, Liam Fowkes, Mikey Gilbert and Caleb Peralta finished fourth through eighth to seal the victory.
East Hampton’s girls swept the top four placements to win their race over Islip handily. Times and placements were not provided.
The East Hampton Bonackers field hockey team (4-2 Division II) has won three straight after defeating host Southampton, 6-1, on Monday. Emma McGrory and Katie Bruno each had two goals in the victory. A 2-1 victory at home over Sayville on September 21 began the current win streak.
After suffering its first loss of the season, 1-0, at Islip this past Friday, the East Hampton boys soccer team lost, 3-1, at home to Amityville on Sunday. The Bonackers fell to 3-2 in League V, 5-3 overall.
The East Hampton boys golf team moved to 4-0 after its latest victory, 8.5-0.5, over Southampton at South Fork Country Club on September 23. Nico Horan-Puglia shot a one-over par 35 and James Bradley shot a 36 on the front nine.
After suffering a 3-0 loss at Eastport-South Manor on September 21, the East Hampton boys volleyball team picked up a 3-1 victory at Shoreham-Wading River this past Saturday. Alex Lombardo had 46 assists in the 25-14, 25-13, 22-25, 25-16 win. Calum Anderson had 11 kills, seven digs and six aces. Mark Daniels and Andrew Dimopoulos each had nine kills.
The East Hampton girls volleyball team defeated host Mount Sinai, 3-2, on Monday to improve to 3-3 in League IV.
The East Hampton/Pierson girls tennis team lost, 6-1, at William Floyd this past Friday, ending what had been a four-match winning streak. The Bonackers are 7-2 in League II.
The East Hampton/Pierson/Bridgehampton girls swim team lost, 101-67, at home to Sayville/Bayport-Blue Point on Friday evening. The reigning League III champion Flashes, who also placed third in the county last season, won 10 of the 12 races. Camryn Hatch won the 100-yard backstroke in 1:04.17 for East Hampton.
The Hampton Bays girls volleyball team defeated crosstown rival and host Southampton, 3-0, this past Friday. The Baymen won in set scores of 25-11, 25-9, 25-13. Hampton Bays also defeated Pierson/Bridgehampton, 3-0, on Monday, 25-16, 25-13, 25-18. The Baymen are 1-3 in League V but 6-3 overall.
Other than a pair of 7-2 matches that they have swapped with Eastport-South Manor, the Baymen have won the rest of their matches this season via 9-0 shutouts of their opponents. That included their latest victory over Shelter Island on September 23, when Erik Sandstrom shot a low score of 39 at Gardiner’s Bay Country Club.
The Hampton Bays boys soccer team had five different goal scorers in its 5-1 victory at Miller Place on September 22. Charlie Garcia, Dylan Elizondo, Dylan Ramos, Camilo Pareja and Brian Tapasco each scored for the Baymen, who are 2-4 in League VI.
The Westhampton Beach boys golf team (4-1 League VIII) defeated Pierson/Bridgehampton (0-2 League VIII), 7.5-1.5, at Noyac Golf Club on September 23.
After winning four straight early in the season, the Westhampton Beach boys soccer team dropped four in a row, including its latest contest, a 2-1 decision at crosstown rival Eastport-South Manor on Saturday. Brandon Flaherty scored the game-winner off a free kick in the second half for the Sharks. The ’Canes are 3-4 in League IV, 4-5 overall.

The Westhampton Beach girls tennis team’s quest for a League II title took a hit last week when it lost, 4-3, at William Floyd on September 21. The Hurricanes (9-1 League II) bounced back with three consecutive victories, including their latest, a 5-2 win at home over Ward Melville on Friday.
