February 29 -  Dominick White helped lead the Southampton boys basketball team to a lopsided victory over Kings Park in the Suffolk County Class A quarterfinals. White was eventually named Suffolk County Class A MVP, All-Long Island and All-County for his efforts.   RON ESPOSITO

February 15 -  Westhampton Beach senior Max Buchen repeated as Suffolk County champion in the 100-yard breaststroke. He would go on to win the state title in his premier event as well.  MARIANNE BARNETT

October 17 - Westhampton Beach senior Brody Schaffer dives and hits the pylon to score the first touchdown of the game in East Hampton on Thursday, October 10. The win over the Bonackers set the Hurricanes on a five-game win streak that eventually led them to the county semifinals after starting the season 1-3.   RON ESPOSITO

November 17 - The Mariners are ecstatic after pulling out a 28-26 victory in the first set of the Suffolk County Class B semifinals at Babylon, a match they eventually won, 3-1, to advance to the county championship where they lost a close match to Center Moriches.  DREW BUDD
